If you have children, their oral health is especially important. Visiting the dentist early helps prevent bigger problems later on and sets them up for a healthy future.

To help with this, we’re proud to support eligible families through the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) – a program funded by Medicare.

What Is the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS)?

The CDBS is a government program that helps cover basic dental care for eligible children between 2 and 17 years old.

If your child is eligible, they can receive up to $1,013 worth of dental services over two calendar years, covered by Medicare.

The services include:

  • Dental check-ups and cleaning

  • Fillings

  • X-rays

  • Tooth extractions

  • Root canals

  • Fissure sealing

You can choose how and when to use these funds within the two-year period. But if the full amount is used up early, you’ll need to wait for the next period to access more benefits.

Important:

  • CDBS does not cover orthodontic work (like braces), cosmetic treatments (like teeth whitening), or dental work done in a hospital.

  • Any unused funds may be withdrawn if your child becomes ineligible.

Who Is Eligible?

Eligibility is based on your family’s Medicare and Centrelink status. Most families receiving certain government benefits will get a letter from Medicare letting them know their child is eligible.

*We only offer bulk billing for eligible children covered under Medicare through the CDBS.
*We do not bulk bill for adults or for any other dental services.

If your child is not eligible for the CDBS, standard fees will apply.
